Recommended Reading For Industry Aspirants
The primary
purpose of this column is to share experiences and information so
that the industry as a whole can benefit from our individual
experiences. Running an independent label or production or
publishing company is an awesome undertaking, and you will need to
utilize all available resources. I was raised in the entertainment
industry and spent years working in various creative and
administrative capacities from songwriter to marketing to A & R.
Hands-on training is great, but potentially very costly in many
ways. One of the greatest counselors is also one of the most
economical- a well stocked library of books about every possible
angle and aspect of the entertainment industry. I have compiled a
list of recommended readers for anyone entering or currently
involved in the music business. These publications are available
through your local bookseller or online.
